What is Clearing?
Clearing is an application opportunity for students looking to secure an undergraduate place at a university after the UCAS deadline.
You might apply through Clearing if:
- you achieved different grades than you were expecting
- you changed your mind about your offer in favour of a different university or course
- you didn’t receive any offers from a university
- you missed the UCAS deadline and haven’t already applied.
When does Clearing take place?
Clearing runs until October 2025, but may close sooner if our vacancies are filled before then.
Most people associate Clearing with A-level results day, which in England, Northern Ireland and Wales is on Thursday 14 August 2025.
This is the busiest day for Clearing applications as it’s when the majority of people receive their grades.
How do I apply through Clearing?
You will be able to browse our full list of undergraduate Clearing course vacancies and contact us to discuss securing a place at Leeds from 8am on results day, Thursday 14 August.
